I headed to the area around 814, Huimang-daero, Daedo-dong, Nam-gu, Pohang, where an event with the warm name 'Children are Happiness' (Aiga Haengbok-imnida) is held. Although it deals with the heavy topic of low birth rates, the atmosphere at the venue was exceptionally bright and lively. From the entrance of the event, the sounds of children's laughter and cheerful music mixed together, making my shoulders move to the rhythm on their own.

This event, which has been continuing since 2018, is a place where adults contemplate the efforts they should make for children, the precious future of our society. Thanks to the collaboration between Gyeongsangbuk-do and Pohang-si, this place has become a festival venue beyond a simple campaign, where the whole family can create happy memories together.

Colorful Experiential Programs that Delight the Five Senses

As you walk through the venue, the fragrant scent of coffee and the smell of cotton candy that children love come with the wind. In particular, the Bread Barbershop (Bread Ibalso) Sing-along Show, which children were enthusiastic about, brought the heat of the venue to its peak. Just watching the little ones shaking their bodies to the music makes me smile. In the following Science Magic Show, curious scientific principles unfolded like magic right before our eyes, and I could see the children's eyes sparkling.

There were also fruitful spaces for direct participation rather than just watching. At the Happiness Guardian Safety Experience Zone, children were learning step-by-step how to cope with dangerous situations they might face in daily life, and a long line formed at the Color Pangpang Face Painting corner, where pretty pictures are drawn on faces. At various promotional booths of Gyeongsangbuk-do and Pohang-si, young parents kept coming by to get information that is practically helpful for parenting.
