For the first time in a while, I went for a drive along the East Coast. As I opened the windows, the salty scent of the sea brushed against the tip of my nose, and the sound of waves tickling my ears guided my way. Arriving at Yeongdeok Ganggu-hang, the vibrant scenery characteristic of the Snow Crab Street unfolded before me. Somewhere in the middle, I encountered ‘Jukdosan’, which boasted a neat appearance by the roadside. As I opened the door and stepped inside, snow crabs and live fish moving vigorously in the huge aquariums that filled the first floor welcomed me. The moment freshness approached me visually, I anticipated the greatest pleasure of today's trip.

Refreshing Comfort Flowing Beyond the Glass Window

A special scenery awaited as I went up to the second floor for my meal. The water flowing down like a waterfall across the floor-to-ceiling windows made the very air indoors feel refreshing. Warm sunlight passed through the glass window and settled on the table, and the view of Ganggu-hang visible outside was like a picture. The interior here is neat and comfortable rather than flashy, so just sitting by the window and staring blankly at the sea made me feel as if the worries I had accumulated were being washed away by the waves.

The Deep Taste of the Sea Spreading Throughout the Mouth

When the ordered steamed snow crab arrived, a savory aroma wrapped around the table. Taking a bite of the plain and sweet crab meat, the rich flavor of the Yeongdeok sea was delivered exactly as it is. After enjoying the crab meat deliciously, what decorated the grand finale was the fried rice stir-fried with the crab innards. The salty yet nutty flavor filled my mouth, and adding a spoonful of the subsequently served snow crab spicy fish stew (Daege-maeuntang) made it a truly perfect combination. After gulping down the hot broth to finish the meal, I felt warmed to my very core. The restaurant also had a spacious parking lot, so I could stay comfortably without any worries even in the complex Snow Crab Street.

After eating my fill, I learned a fact: there were guest house facilities available on the third floor of this building. Being able to go straight up to your accommodation after eating delicious food at a travel destination is a truly great charm. A structure where you can appreciate the sunset at Ganggu-hang and immediately take a rest—isn't this an impeccable option for those who dream of a leisurely trip? This Yeongdeok trip was a time to fully recharge myself, breathing closer to the sea, beyond just eating delicious food.
